We're all readers and writers on this site, so we can all help each other get better. Don't be afraid to leave your tips here, drop 'em. Cause more than likely we need them!

    Here are some tips.

Know your strong points and use them.
(I'm stronger with dialogue, some are stronger with descriptions. Just use what your good at)

Every story doesn't have to have the same plot or characters.
(Mix them up sometimes, and try something different)

Sometimes reality is best, while others......
(After you've read for so long plots start to seem the same, try getting out of your element. At least one person will appreciate your creativity)

Write for the love of writing, not for the love of reviews
(If you love writing, write. Even if it seems like no one's reading, because you never know when theres a silent reader lurking. S/N... Even though it gets hard, learn to appreciate your silent readers, because at least they do read.)

Okay, those are mine, anyone else have any??

    Okay, I thought about it.

Go out of your element (may involve a lil research)
Everyone on here is capable of writing something
    beyond what they may know.

Don't be afraid to use your imagination that is what its
here for. I use mines all the time Smile

Like Lisa said, same plot, same story line gets boring
so time to up the notch some. Research may need to
get involved because of the fact you may not know
something about the subject but you want to write about it
do it. It keeps the story feeling real.

    Dictionary/Thesarus

    Expand your vocabulary...Learn new words
to better illustrate what you are trying to say.
I love being able to imagine a scene with words
because it lets you play a movie scene in your
    mind with creative words.

In order to develop a living, breathing, multi-faceted character, it is important to know way more about the character than you will ever use in the story. Here is a partial list of character details to help you get started.

    Name
    Age
    Job
    Ethnicity
    Appearance
    Residence
    Pets
    Religion
    Hobbies
    Single or married?
    Children?
    Temperament

    Favorite color
    Friends
    Favorite foods
    Drinking patterns
    Phobias
    Faults
    Something hated?
    Secrets?
    Strong memories?
    Any illnesses?
    Nervous gestures?
    Sleep patterns

in your characterszx and the plott . Well that`szx all

For me to have a good story the plot must be good. There should be a bit of mystery to keep the reader interested. Don't give it all away in the first few adds.
Make it realistic though (been said before-but say it again cuz its really important)
Make your characters funny especially if you use the same ones constantly...also if you use the same ones always change thier roles a bit.
Most importantly write for you and because you love it!! Enjoy your talent!!

How can I retain a plot because
one minute I start with a great
plot and then I think of another
and another...I should just stick to
    one story I guess...
