Chapter 19 |Returning a Memory|
“You sure you feel like coming?” Marcus asked as we sat in the parking lot of Jacksonville hottest club that has been reserved for Corey’s big birthday bash. Jinn is surprising him inviting everyone that knew them.
“I‘m fine Marcus…Seriously.” I said while looking back towards Zay who eyes were fixated on such colorful lighting.
His eyes glanced at me, then towards my stomach as a simple head nod rocked in motion.
“Okay. Well, I‘m about to drop Zay off at Corey‘s cousin house and pick Corey up. I‘ll be back in a few. Okay.” he said wit reassurance.
“Okay.” I said getting out of the car. He waited until I made it inside the building before pulling off. Entering into the building, the sound of my Prada’s clucked against the rich crème marble tiles upon the floor. My knee length black skirt hugged my hips like a glove upon someone’s hand. The green sheer shirt complimented my Prada’s. Walking into the reception area, Jinn practically had everything set up and many people were mingling around. I approached Jinn who held a smile on her face.
“Look at the new wife and mother to be…” she joked as I notice her adding the cake at the dessert table.
“I know right…This looks real nice.” I complimented looking around as many people were lounging around.
“Thanks girl. So Marcus is picking Corey up from his cousin house right?” she asked wanting to be sure.
“Yep. Everything is on schedule.” I said checking out a pair of eyes that quickly moved away from me. “Damn man…Did he have to come?” I asked looking at Ron across the way. He look extremely nice this evening with a fresh lining and clothing nicely pressed. I was mad at myself for admiring him as much as I despised him.
“Moe‘s guest. It will be okay.” she assured me and all I can do is nod…

“Okay Marcus just text me and said they were outside.” I said cuing for everyone to settle down and the DJ to play a slow beat. Silence overwhelmed the building until we all heard footsteps in the main entrance. The lights in the building are set on dim as we could hear their conversation.
“Man this is bullshit. How could a car lot full of cars at the club sound so dead.” Corey said as we can hear some people chuckling in the background.
“Don‘t you hear the beat. Everybody is probably humping on each other.” Marcus said and I just wanted to laugh.
The feeling of someone approaching me from behind could be felt, but I didn’t bother to look back being the fact Corey just entered and we all said “Surprise.” His eyes were so bucked wide all we could do was laugh at him. Jinn approached him as they grasp each other tightly and kissed each other. I decided to glance behind me to find a male figure, no sight of their face but only their clothing. As soon as I glance up, Marcus approached me looking sexy with his dark demeanor. His focus wasn’t on me though. It was on the person behind me. I finally look back once more to see Ron standing behind me.
“Wassup.” he told Marcus, but no response. Marcus just took me by my arm and walked off as though he knew something was up.
“What the fuck ya‘ll standing around for. DJ bump the music playa…” Corey crazy self said aloud as he had Jinn by her hand walking through the crowds of his goons.
The DJ flipped from the slow joint to Twista new joint “Birthday.” As the lights began flashing various amounts of colors, Marcus and I made it to a booth in the corner. He let go of his grasp and sat down in the booth and so did I.
“So what‘s the deal with that nigga?” he asked as his hands clasped together looking in the direction of Ron.
“Why is that important? I didn‘t speak to him.” I said.
“Probably because I don‘t trust his ass around you. I can tell from the look in his eyes something going to go down.” he said glancing my way. “So you going to tell me or do I have to find out from another source.” he said as though he already knew the deal.
“My ex.” I simply said.
“Why you didn‘t tell me the first time?” he asked.
“So I was to just jump out and tell you every ex boyfriend I see on the streets Marcus? That evening with the proposal and the news I had to tell you, I didn‘t give a fuck if he was there or not. If he would have stepped up to me wrong then that’s another story.” I said. “So let me ask you this…How long you knew we had a history?” I asked him.
He sat back in his seat placing one arm across the back of the seat and around my shoulders. His face held a smirk which gave me the answer. “It doesn‘t take me long to figure shit out Clare. When your going to learn that?” he asked.
I rolled my eyes at the remark as the song switch to Jeremih “Raindrops.”
“Let‘s dance.” I said grabbing his hand as we scooted out of the booth and onto the dance floor where everyone was bumping like we were really at the club. My hands wrapped around his waist as I began riding up close to him. Our bodies slid as one as my body gravitate closer to him. I turned my frame around feeling him grind on my backside with the beat. He is such a smooth dancer, even with the simplest moves. Jinn made it clear no food besides dessert will be served along with liquor, so everyone ate before coming. All we were here for really is a good time. Marcus lips grabbed a hold of the top of my ear as I heard him whispering something. The sound of him whispering sweet things were soon pushed to the side as Moe made her way into the scene…
“What the…” I began to say as she cut me short…
“Your going to be with him for a very long time. Just want a dance from my big brother.” she said with a wink at me then look towards Marcus.
“Look…I was…” Marcus began to say, but I cut him short.
“No…That’s ok baby. I will be with you for a very long time.” I said with a smile and stepped over to give him a kiss. After breaking it, I glared at her. “He‘s all yours.” I said then strolled back off towards the bar. Along my way there, I felt a hand grasp around my wrist yanking me into the arms of someone. I glanced up to find the person who did so.
“Let go of me Ron.” I said.
“No, how about you just give me one dance. Plus we can resolve our differences so I can leave you alone.” he said.
“No really…” I began to say, but he pulled me in giving me a kiss on my lips. Immediately I jerked back. “What the fuck Ron?!” I said.
“Look…can we just go somewhere and talk.” he said.
“Go where?” I asked getting highly upset that he is still in my face. I know for a fact with his persistent ways, he will not let up until I give in. He took me by my hand guiding me off to a staircase that led to another floor. Look as though its VIP. He knew his way around this room obviously. He look back to be sure no one was following behind I guess. I snatched my hand back from him.
“This is bullshit. If you couldn‘t tell me downstairs then its nothing.” I said ready to walk off but he grabbed my hand once more yanking me into a room closing the door behind me. Fine time to not have a fucking gun on me. His ass must have gone stone crazy. I swung my hair away from my eyes looking at him is disgust. He approached me glancing over my body…
“Engaged?” he questioned sarcastically. “And your fucking pregnant.” he asked angrily bringing back an awful memory…
“What it is to you?” I asked folding my arms as thoughts continued fluttering in my mind.
“You having a baby for this nigga you only been with for a couple of months and yet you killed our fucking baby.” he said angrily.
The abortion tore him up as much as it tore me up which caused us to be separate for a long time.
“You know I still love you and you threw me away. I gave you your space because I know how you are you spoiled bitch.” he said angrily as I gave him an eye.
“We were young, and very stupid. You and I would have never been compatible with your cheating ass. Why are we having this conversation? How about you knock up Moe and live happily ever after.” I said approaching the door, but my body suddenly was slammed up against the door as the doorknob pressed against my stomach.
“Get the fuck off of me!” I screamed out, elbowing him in his ribs. He didn’t budge as he grabbed my arm while yanking me on the floor.
