Chapter oo5
I got out of bed and looked at the clock. It read 7:15; my first class was at 8 o`clock. I walked over to my closet to find something to wear. Today did not feel like a “get cute” type of day. I settled on a white and black striped wife beater, my black, short sleeved, zip up jacket that had “I`m a … SECRET !” spray painted on the back in white, and my black capri sweats. I threw on some deodorant, and handled my personal hygiene. After applying a little make-up, I was ready to go.
“Who you trying to get all cute for girl?” I heard Ashleigh`s half sleep voice ask me. I turned to look at her, and laughed.
“Nobody girl,” I replied. “This is not cute. This is comfortable; me on an everyday basis.”
She shook her head and smiled. “Well, I`m proud of you for having these early morning classes. I know I could not do this shit at all.” I laughed at her again. I apologized for waking her up. “Girl, it`s nothing. I`m gonna fall right back to sleep.” I smiled. I could actually grow to like this chick, but she had something that I wanted.
I looked at the clock again, and noticed that it was time for me to leave. I told Ashleigh good-bye, and went on my way. Once I was downstairs and outside, I stopped at the top of the stairs and looked at my surroundings. This is my life now. Time to be the woman that I know I am meant to be. I smiled. I was going to make it and I refused to let anyone get in the way of ruining my dreams.
Before heading to my Calculus II class, I decided to stop by Starbucks to get a Double Chocolaty Chip Frappachino. Once I entered the student center, I wish I hadn`t. Dammit man. There, sitting on a couch, was Laython. I tried to turn into Starbucks before he saw me, but it was too late. He caught my eye and smiled before standing up and walking my way. Here we go.
Arai`lea turned and walked into Starbucks, and got in line. I walked up behind her and covered her eyes.
“Good morning, Beautiful,” I whispered in her ear. I felt her body tense up, so I moved my hands away. She turned and looked at me. The expression on her face had me worried, scared and nervous.
“Hey Laython,” she said in a cold tone before moving forward in the line. I followed behind her.
“Arai`lea, what`s wrong?” I asked. She shook her head and chuckled.
“I met my roommate last night. I learned a lot of things I didn`t know.” She stared at me like I had hurt her. What does her roommate have to do with me? I saw her stare behind me and smile. “There she is now.”
I turned around to see who she was talking about. I regretted it instantly. Oh hell; this cannot be happening. I looked back at Arai`lea with pleading eyes.
“Arai`lea, I don`t know what she told you but it was probably all lies.” I was trying to plead my case, but the devil reincarnate appeared too soon.
“Hey Arai`lea,” she spoke as she laid her hand on my chest. “I see you met Laython.” She had a big smile on her face. I pushed her hand off of me, and stepped away from her.
“Ashleigh, what are you doing?” I questioned her. I needed to get this straight now. Aria`lea had walked to the counter and ordered her drink, and I followed behind her, Ashleigh right on my ass.
Once I reached Arai`lea, I tried to grab for her hand, but she snatched it away, and Ashleigh pulled me back at the same time. I spun around and gave Ashleigh the death stare. Arai`lea had received her order, and walked back over to us.
“Baby, why are you acting like this?” Ashleigh whined, trying to stroke my arm. I shrugged her off of me again, and looked at Arai`lea.
“Rai, what did she tell you?” I asked as calmly as I could. I could see tears threatening to form in Arai`lea’s eyes. I would never forgive myself for this, even though it wasn`t my fault.
“I think you should just talk to your girl, and leave me alone.” Arai`lea wiped a tear that managed to escape, and walked away.
I looked at Ashleigh. “You told her I was your BOYFRIEND?!” I was trying not to get upset, but Ashleigh was pushing her envelope with me. “Why would you do some stupid shit like that, Ashleigh?” I was fuming.
Ashleigh looked at me upside my head. “Why does it matter what I tell her about you? You don`t even know the girl.” I laughed in her face.
“You remember the girl I was telling you about last night?” I wondered in a whisper. She slowly nodded her head. “That girl is Arai`lea.” I shook my head and scoffed at her before walking away.
I started heading to class knowing I had to find Arai`lea and talk to her soon.
God, please let her listen to me. I sighed. I didn`t want to lose my chance with her, but I was afraid I already had. ------------------------------
