Closing the door behind me I smiled, looking at the card he gave me with his number on it. I placed it in my pocket as i turned to head to the kitchen.
"You like him" Kai said standing in the door way of the bedroom. She had this huge smile on her face that made me laugh.
"No i dont...i dont even know him" I said with a smile. I went into the kitchen and started to put away the food.
"So i still think you like him" Kai said walking in behind me. I shook my head
"Whatever kiddo....Go ahead and take your bath...ill have dinner ready once your finish" I said closing the frige door and looking down at her. She smiled and ran off.
Ugh. Was i really falling for someone i just meet. No i cant be. Its just a physical attraction. I pushed the thoughts away as i started to get dinner ready!

I turned the music in my car down as I answered my phone.
"Hello?"
"Hey baby" my fiance sung.
"H-hey"
"What's the matter? And where are you?" she questioned.
"Nothing, im in'uh, Hampton Square" I lied, I wouldn't dare tell her I had just dropped off a black woman and her 'lil sister' at The V.A. Apts. I had heard enough about how a black woman ruined her parent's marriage and resulted in her being hung infront of her kids. The story was sickening and I wasn't in the mood to hear the re-run.
"Oh, well, Daddy's coming over so I need you to be on your best behavior"
"Lisa I'm not a fuckin child"
"That's what I mean Arlondo, don't say that in front of Daddy! You want that job at his firm dont you? You cant mess this up for us!"
"It's Orlando, quit trying to change it to what you want it to be. I told you Lis, I dont want the job, and I hate your dad, you know that" I said as I turned on the ramp to enter the interstate.
"Why are you always doing this to me?" Lisa cried. I shook my head as she continued to whin.
"Look im on my way home, I'll be there in a minute" I hung up the phone, tossing it in the passenger seat. I turned the music back up as I reduced my speed, rushing home was no longer in my intrest. I took an exit that would put about 30 minutes on my ride home. My phone rung again, she was determined to work my last nerve tonight.
"Hello?" I answered aggravatedly.
"Hey, bad time?"
"Kayla?"
"Yeah, you need me to call you back?"
"Nah, nah, your good, what's up?"
"If it's not too much to ask, I was wondering if you could pick Kai and I up tomorrow morning, it's gonna be bad weather all day and I really dont want Kai standing out in the rain waiting for the bus. Please?" she asked. I nodded my head as if she could see me.
"Yeah, I can do that. What time you need me to be there?"
"About seven thirty-ish?"
"Yea, I'll be there, maybe I can take you two out too?"
"I guess I owe you that much, huh?" she laughed lightly, "I think that'll be fine"
"Alright, seven it is, bye"
"Bye, thanks again, Orlando"
My smile faded as I pulled up to my suburban home. I have to say, I was living the American Dream. I had a the fiance, the white picket fence, and a golden retriever. The one and a half kids were to come. But that wasn't my dream. I opened my front door to see my fiance sitting on the stairs, crying.
"Baby, what's wrong?" I asked as I kneeled down in front of her.
"Who is she? Is she black?" she questioned.
"Lisa, what are you talking about?" I asked as I sat next to her.
"I tracked your car, you weren't in Hampton Square" I took a deep breath and looked out of the window.
"You really sat here and tracked my car, Lisa?"
"You are not going to do me like my father my mother!"
"I was at my brother's club! It's about to be mines soon so I was checking it out-"
"A club? You'd rather run some club than make 8 figures? Do you know how bad that would look? Orlando no! You cant be serious!" she whinned. I pushed my bedroom door open to see a suit laid out on the bed. "Lisa what's this?" I asked as she made her way up the stairs. "That's what you're gonna wear tonight when Daddy comes" she said. I looked at her, I always thought she was bipolar. I fanned her off as I headed for the shower; I wasn't wearing that.

“Oh dad, it’s so good to see you.” Lisa said kissing his cheek as he entered the door. “Likewise.” He kissed her cheek back then focused in on my uncomfortable expression from the tie practically choking my neck.
“Well, look at my future son in law. Ready to get your life in order to take care of my princess?” he questioned with a glare as though I’m suppose to be scared of him. “I’ve been taking care of her for two years and we look fine to me? Is that right baby.” I grinned knowing I was getting under her skin.
Diverting the subject from my remark, she suggested for us to meet in the living room. As I approached my favorite chair, her father felt the need to grab a hold of it, sitting his cocky ass in my seat as though he owns this home. My eyes met with Lisa, facial expressions of shame crossing her face for the way I’ve been acting. “Baby, come sit by me.” Her smile is faint while she patted the seat next to her. I did so, just to keep her ass from jumping on me later.
“I heard dad has a wonderful position for you baby. Isn’t that right daddy?” she asked him, grabbing a hold of my arm tightly with excitement. “That I do baby girl. That I do…” he sat back comfortably in my chair, pulling out a foreign cigar. “But before he could have the position. I want you in my office Monday to start in the mail room.” He said, lighting his cigar which began to saturate the room with its strong scent.
“Mail room?” I questioned.
“Yea, mail room. I don’t care who you are, you start where I want you to start.” He released the smoke cloud through his nostrils.
“I don’t want it.” I simply said while feeling Lisa squeeze the life out of my arm.
“What you mean you don’t want it?” he questioned.
“Exactly what I said. I have a job paying me well, so why do I need to stoop down to a simple minded man who basically feel I can’t handle shit on my own when I will soon have an empire.” I said in a monotone as Lisa abruptly stood up.
“That’s enough.” She blurted out. “Daddy, I’m sorry for…” she began to apologize before he rudely interrupted.
“I told you he was full of it. Since your marrying this egotistical fool, you can exclude me from your list because I refuse to claim this idiot as part of my family.” He stood to his feet ready to leave.
“Wait dad, you don’t mean that.” She caught up with him. “Let him go Lisa.” I yelled aloud knowing it would piss her off even more. I didn’t care because now she see how I felt when I said I didn’t want to go through this. She should have heeded my words.
The door slam, as silence mingled in the air along with the stench of that cigar. I stood up ready to head in the bathroom for air freshener, but I was stopped by Lisa. “How could you do this to me?” she asked angrily with teary eyes. “You are so fucking selfish I don’t know why I am still with you!” she shouted.
“You already knew the deal. Why would I stoop myself low for a man who can’t stand me when I could be making just as much doing my own thing. Why the hell do you want me to work with him? Huh?” I asked.
“Because I don’t want you out all during the night when I am carrying your son!” she shouted before storming upstairs….My son?
“Well, look at my future son in law.
