Chapter 10



We were sitted in my room around my dressing table as we helped fix each other up. It was the first time I didn’t use one of my usual make-up artists for an appearance as big as this one. ‘We look good don’t we?’ Kamaria was twirling in front of us.
‘oh yes...we some sexy bitches...now Lisa has something to tell us’ replied Janae
‘Ok well...last night while Trey drove me home someone called and he said he was driving a friend home...couldn’t even say a girl friend...I mean...musta been a girl on the phone’

‘Ok...well I don’t know...he said he’d call but now I don’t know he hasn’t yet’
‘Maybe he will...just wait’
She nodded but we could all see she was a bit down so I thought we needed cheering up. ‘Well...look at us...sexy bitches as Kay put it...and we gon turn heads tonight...and we gon party too’
‘You better be turning only Trevor’s head!’ laughed Rachelle.
‘I invited Marcus Cooper too...so be careful what you say young dancer!’
She threw her hands on her mouth to muffle her screams but her eyes were wide open.
‘Really...anyway’ she was trying so hard to pretend not to care, ‘anybody heard from Tash?’
‘Yeah...she texted me and said her and Sammie coming back soon and she has a really big surprise for us!’ replied Janae
‘Oh my God...maybe they got engaged...3 years is a long time isn’t it!’
‘Yeah...wouldn’t that be nice...a wedding for us to help plan and get all dolled up for’ Kamaria had stars in her eyes.
‘Yeah...well we all need a man for a wedding or else we gon end up with the best man and his boys’ laughed Lisa
‘Well...I got that part settled...we needa work on you guys now’ I replied ‘speaking of man hurry up...Trevor is waiting for us in the limo downstairs’
‘Youpee...tonight’s gonna be a good night’ sang Lisa
‘Wooohoooo’ we all replied laughing as we filed downstairs and walked to the car. Before leaving I looked at one of Kwame’s picture and kissed it. ‘Mummy misses you baby’

We walked out and I saw Trevor stare directly at me. I smiled when he walked up to me and kissed me smack on the lips. ‘ok you two...get a room...’ Janae hid her face while the others laughed.
‘This is my chance, cuz when y’all be all loved up...then you gon rub it in too!’ I giggled as we got into the limo and Trevor popped champagne for us to start the celebrations.
‘I’m so happy for you Rache...it’s been a long time and finally you did it’ Kay raised her glass, ‘to you and may success pave the path to your future...’ she cleared her throat and looked at Trevor, ‘and love too’ We raised our glasses and made sure the bottle was empty by the time we got to the red carpet event.

Our door was opened and my girls stepped out first basking in the light of the cameras. I breathed in slowly and admired them. ‘You ready?’ Trevor squeezed my hands and I nodded. He stepped out next and held my hand helping me out. I posed for the cameras with my girls and then we each posed individually. Lastly I posed with my new man hoping the press won’t turn it into bullshit as they have done in the past.
‘Ms Rachel...how are you feeling right now?’ I turned to a Channel E! Reporter and smiled.
‘Wow...this is my dream come true. I have fantastic friends with me and a fantastic man too right here with me at the launch of my clothing line...what more could I ask for?’
‘Will you stop at clothing or move into accessories or even perfume?’
‘Well I definitely will move into accessories to but for now I think a clothing line is good enough, maybe next year I’ll introduce bags and shoes’
‘We all can’t wait to see what you have to offer, but it’s said that people are already lining up outside the store!’
‘Really? Wow...well they will NOT be disappointed’
I smiled and waved as I walked away and another reporter stepped to me
‘Ms Rachel can we say that you and Mr Ariza are a couple right now?’
Before I could answer Trevor grabbed my waist and pulled me closer ‘actually it’s not just right now...it’s for as long as we can hold it together...how long do you give us?’
She smiled at us ‘not long enough!’
‘You got it’ he kissed my lips as people called for us to sign autographs. I signed a few and then we hurried inside to check on my models who would be wearing my creations.

‘Wow...they look beautiful Rach’ Janae was in her element and she helped a few with their make-up.
‘Janae...go sit your ass outside ok’ Kamaria was dragging her outside, ‘Rach we will see you outside’
I waved goodbye as the MC started talking. A film played in the background depicting my life journey up till today. Applause filled the room as music started to play and the girls walked out. I snuck a peek outside and saw people smiling and pointing at the various outfits. I noticed Paris Hilton making notes on the ones she liked. I looked at Trevor and him and the girls gave me a thumbs up. I was so happy. I couldn’t believe all my deepest wishes were coming true.
‘Rachel get ready your on soon’ I missed Natasha being backstage with me to help me out but I suppose she was enjoying her time with Sammie...I wondered what surprise he had. She better call me tomorrow.
‘NOW’
I walked out with the girls and everyone stood to applaud my models and I. I beamed with joy and waved at everyone and then I walked backstage and started screaming with my models. We jumped and up almost breaking our shoes and my girls walked in and joined me.
‘IT WAS AMAZING...I WANT SOME OF THOSE DRESSES’ Rachelle was screaming to be heard.
‘Yes and you will design my dress for the AMAs!!’ Lisa had already grabbed a black pumpkin dress and Kamaria was admiring some silk blouses. Janae as usual was busy asking the make-up artists for some tips. As I watched all of them I felt so happy to have seem real friends unlike the ones I had back in college who stabbed me in the back when I got famous. They sold so many pictures of me and even sold some personal stories. I was devastated, but now I had some real friends who cared very much about me and I wanted to do everything to make them know that I appreciated their help.

I felt hands on my waist and my body was twirled around until I landed in Trevor’s arms. ‘Did you like it?
‘I loved it...beautiful baby...absolutely’

As we looked at our friend we dreamt of that perfect guy. My phone beeped snapping me out of it. It was a message from Trey.

He walked off and I hurried down to go meet Trey. It was a bit chilly and I wrapped my arms around my body to keep warm.
‘You look cold Lisa’
I jumped at the sound of his voice behind me. Without turning I began to sweat profusely as I heard footsteps approaching me. I felt his breathe on my neck and tears began to fill my eyes as he whispered crude remarks.
‘Thought I’d forgotten about you Lisa’ he leered, ‘well I’m back and I’m ready to collect’
A scream pierced the night as I felt his hands rub against my thighs and move up to my waist.

‘Rachel so are we the only 2 here?’
‘Yep...just me and you’
‘Lisa got a text from Trey and she went to meet him downstairs....Marcus apparently took Rae and Laython snatched Kay from the floor...I swear this is not my night’
‘Trevor get us a cocktail please baby?’

I watched him kiss her cheeks before he got up. She looked at him with dreamy eyes as he walked away.

‘You know what Rache...I swear I thought maybe I could get Pooch, but after all the shit he said to me...that nigga is crazy’
‘Are you upset that we are all with a guy or what?’
‘I’m not upset, but I feel so lonely when I see you girls with your man...I wanna find love too Rache’
‘I know Nae...I want you to be happy too...and I think you about too’

I turned around and saw Pooch walking with a mean swag towards us. I rolled my eyes and looked at Rachel. She smiled and winked just as Trevor set the cocktails down. I sipped my mohito while she whispered something to Trevor and he laughed.
‘Hey Janae’
‘Is there a huge ass bug behind me?’
‘No...just a fine brother’ she tugged at Trevor’s shirt and they got up. ‘We leaving Nae...any plans for tomorrow?’
‘Not really...we can meet up at your place or somewhere...I’ll call everyone and we’ll see’

‘USE PROTECTION!’ I yelled out loud for her to hear and she walked away. She turned around and laughed...’Why? We can make a giant baby with my looks and his body what you think?’

He got up and grabbed my arm pulling me up until we were inches apart. ‘Ok...I hope you really make it worth my while...or else you’ll be in trouble’
I followed him out to the lift and he pressed the button. Once we were in he pushed up on me and I was stuck in a corner as the lift began to move down.
