Chapter S I X
Never been afraid to say
what's on my mind at, any given time of day
‘Cause I'm a renegade.
-Eminem & Jay-Z “What the fuck were you dumb ass niggas thinking? I mean do ya’ll understand English? Huh! Answer me Got-dammit!” Zion raged as she cut the power off on her Flat Screen TV and catapulted the remote across the living room, shattering it to pieces. “Please don’t all ya’ll mathafuckas speak at the same damn time.” The three men that sat before her were speechless- hell speechless would have to be an understatement. Although Zion told them to speak up, they knew that if any one of them opened their mouths, they would be dead in a blink of an eye.
Zion paced back and forth inside the wide space as the bun that sat on her head bounced slightly. “I pay you fucks to clean up and you can’t even do that shit right. Do ya’ll know what the fuck ‘clean’ means? Do I have to send you dumb bastards back to elementary school, no, back to Pre-K? My niece is two and she knows what clean means.”
The men nodded their yes.
“Yes what? Ya’ll want me to send ya’ll asses back to Pre-K?”
They then nodded their heads no.
“Well why don’t one of you give me a definition of clean then.”
Slim, the tall dark skinned man raised his hand. “Tidy, spotless.” He answered hesitantly.
“Now I’m really going to have to kill ya’ll. You knew what the shit meant, but you still left THE FUCKING BODIES AT THE SCENE!”
Cassidy and Melissa lay on separate ends of the love seat in Zion’s home, chuckling to themselves. When Zee went off on anyone, especially those who called themselves ‘tough guys’, they had to have front row seats. The shit was just that hilarious to them.
“I’ma tell ya’ll simple niggas this and you better listen good ‘cause I’m only saying it once.” She pointed her manicured fingers at them. “If one cop shows up at my door- you’re all dead. I don’t care if they are knocking on my door accidentally. Now get the fuck out my house.”
The men scrambled to their feet and out of the door. Cassidy clapped her hands and Melissa joined in as they laughed harder.
“You are the meanest bitch EVER.” Mel exaggerated.
“You could win an Oscar for that performance baby.”
“Ya’ll bitches are laughing and shit and we could get caught. You dumb ass whores.”
“No! You and Donna will get caught. There’s no we in ya’ll.” Melissa defended.
“Whatever. You two can get the hell out too.”
Cassidy rolled her eyes at her younger sister, “Are you going to tell Quentin?”
“No, for what? I don’t owe that nigga an explanation.”
“So you’re going to act like nothing happened?”
Zion sighed, “I mean, does it fucking matter?”
“Yes, it does matter because you like dude.”
Zion’s eyes bucked as she stared at Melissa, “Are you serious? I don’t like him- he’s cute, but that’s it.”
Her sisters were not having that.
“Zee you are a horrible liar. Just admit it to your big sister.”
“Cass shut up. I do not like him damn. Are you deaf or just plain stupid?”
“Both.”
Before Zion could elaborate on how stupid both of her sisters were being, her cell phone vibrated on the coffee table. She picked it up and her heart damned near jumped from her chest. Every time they called, she felt like a little girl again. Cassidy saw Zion’s frightened face and automatically knew that it was their parents.
“You better answer it.”
“Nope.” Zion denied the phone call and tossed the phone onto the black leather sofa. Not even seconds later, her front door was being pushed opened by no one other than her father himself- Marco Amoretti.
Melissa and Cassidy sat up aright on the couch and tried not to gaze into Marco’s eyes. Zion stood immobile, her feet planted firmly on the carpet.
“So you think that it’s cool to have police and crime scene mathafuckas inside my establishment AND THEN you ignore my fucking call when I try to reach you Zion?” Marco’s veins were bulging out of his neck, arms, and forehead. He looked over to the sofa and pointed his fingers to his other daughters. “Get ya’ll shit and bounce right now.” The girls left without a word, not looking up once. Marco slammed the door and Zion began to panic because she didn’t know what was in store for her at that moment. Her father was one crazy ass dude and her mother was not there to protect her at any costs. “Sit the fuck down Zion.”
She nodded her head and obeyed. Marco paced the floor, as she was just a few minutes before he had entered her home.
“I specifically explained to you, your sisters, and brothers that I don’t give a fuck what you do. You can kill everybody on this damn Earth if you wanted to, as long as it doesn’t trace back to this family. I told your ass to ACT like you have fucking sense when you are inside one of our businesses. When you are outside of our shit- I don’t care, but when police and such are bombarding in my shit- then there’s a problem. I want to understand why you can’t follow basic fucking rules. Do I need to break the shit down in simpler terms for your ass?”
Zion wanted to laugh because she was so much like Marco that it was ridiculous. She could’ve sworn that she had told her ‘clean-up crew’ the exact same thing.
She then shook her head no. “I understand the rules clearly dad.”
“Obviously not. My club looks like some shit off of CSI: Miami or something. They have to close my shit down to make it seem like they are doing their jobs and that’s fucking with my money. I have to pay them crooked ass cops when I’m not making the money that I usually give to them. You know I don’t play about my money Zee.”
“I know daddy-”
“I really don’t want to hear that shit.” Marco sighed, his furrowed eyebrows drawing stress lines on his forehead. “Don’t let this shit happen again Zion.” He leaned down and kissed her forehead before pulling her arms up into a hug. His huge frame swallowed her smaller one.
“I’m sorry.”
“Yeah, yeah. I love you.”
“I love you too."
"And your mother said you better bring your ass by to come see her.”
Zion chuckled and rolled her eyes playfully, “I’ll stop by later today.
“And I handled those dumb asses who didn’t clean up correctly for you. I’ll lend you some of my men until we find you some more.”
“Thanks.”
