Chapter 7 |Caught|
Once again I’ve been awaken from my sleep, but this time a piece has been added to the puzzle. Claritha. Who is she? Why do I keep having incomplete dreams about someone I don’t know about. I curled up next to Marcus trying to convince myself to go back to sleep…
Awakening to an empty bed, I took one long stretch to see it is now after noon. I got out of the bed into the bathroom, then into the living to find that I am alone. Walking into Zay’s bedroom, he was not there. It made me no difference, I walk over to the sofa and plopped down turning on the television. Sitting the remote down, I notice a paper with my name on it. Checking it out, it’s a list of names Corey want to invite with their name and address. Thumbing through the list, he had about 50 major names he want to invite. Good, because two hundred is an overload. At the bottom of the list, I notice the date of August 2. Its barely two weeks. I need to get moving.

While on the phone with the last of the guest, Marcus and Zay walk through the door. Once getting off the phone with the person, I got up to greet the boys.
“So what ya‘ll did today?” I asked.
“Finding shit for that baby shower.” he said as Zay walked over towards me.
“Cake huge…” he said happily.
“Oh, you helped pick out a cake?” I asked lifting him up.
“Yea…” he said excitedly.
I smiled walking to the sofa making myself comfortable next to Marcus.
“So I don‘t have to get the food, only invitations right?” I asked.
“And decorate. He picked out a nice place. I guess I will take you over there later on. What you say?” he asked.
“Sounds good to me.” I said.
My phone began ringing in the background, so I sat Zay down to grab it in the kitchen.
“Hello.” I answered quickly.
“What‘s up beautiful.” the sound of the familiar voice shot through the phone.
“May I ask who is speaking?” I asked peeking my head around to see Marcus got up with Zay heading to the bathroom.
“So you want to dis me like that now. You know who I am, don‘t play.” he said.
“What do you want?” I asked in a low tone.
“All I ask is for a moment of your time. I miss you baby girl.” he said.
“How do you know I‘m down here?” I asked.
“Don‘t worry about that. Just want you to know I plan to see you real soon.” he said, then the call end.
“What the…” I said aloud. I closed my phone and just stared at it confused. He plan to see me soon. What the hell?
Sitting my phone down, I walk towards the bedroom to find something to put on. Scoping out my wardrobe in the closet, I hear Zay running in the room with Marcus behind him.
“Who was that on the phone?” he asked.
“Telemarketers.” I lied.
“I thought we cleared that up a while back.” he said not wanting to leave the subject.
“I know, but some of those bastards learn to maneuver around the matter.” I said grabbing a fit from the closet while biting on my bottom lip.
I could feel Marcus burning a hole in my neck. He could see my lie right through me.
“Zay, go clean your mess in your room.” he said keeping his eyes on me.
Damn man…What in the hell will he ask me next. Zay scuffled out while Marcus close the door behind him. We stood there, in awkward silence, I guess him trying to figure me out. Footsteps trailed behind me, so I turned around.
“So why the lying?” he asked.
“What you talking about?” I asked in defense walking pass him to the bed to place my outfit on the bed.
“Do you think I‘m stupid? I know you better than you know your damn self.” he said.
“Marcus, why you getting so upset? You act like I‘m trying to hide something from you.” I said.
“Why I‘m getting so upset is because I fell in love with a female who decides to sit in my fucking face and lie about dumb ass shit. So I‘m gonna ask you, who were you on the phone with?” he asked once more.
“If you must know, my ex called me. Before you jump into conclusions its not what you think.” I said already defending myself.
“So let me get this straight, its not what I have on my mind, but you had to lie about who you were on the phone with just like you couldn‘t tell me you went to the fucking strip club.” he said in a calm manner.
I turned around to face him.
“And who told you that?” I asked.
“Corey told me. At least Jinn ass told Corey where she was going. And I specifically told you to tell me in my face and you had the audacity to lie in my damn face then kiss my lips.” he said with a smirk of anger on his face.
“I cannot believe we are arguing over some dumb ass shit like this. Marcus…” I began to say, but he cut me short.
“Yea, but it‘s dumb ass shit that came from your lips. You know what, its all good. Obviously I‘m not worthy enough for you to tell me a little truth of the matter. And I even waited to see if you was going to tell me. I should have heed my advice a while ago.” he said walking towards the door.
“Where you think your going? We ain‘t through.” I said.
No comment, he walked out the door leaving me in a daze being this is our first real argument in a long time.
